At today’s Berlin Staatsoper press conference, General Music Director Daniel Barenboim and Artistic Director Jürgen Flimm introduced the 2014/15 season.

Highlights of next season’s program include nine new productions on the big stage as well as six more premieres on the Werkstatt (studio theatre) stage including one world premiere. Also as part of next year’s festival, Staatsoper Berlin will honor the 90th birthday of Pierre Boulez with three symphony concerts performed by Wiener Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, with Daniel Barenboim as the conductor.

Additionally, the Staatskapelle Berlin will give eight major symphony concerts in the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus. Daniel Barenboim will conduct three of them and perform as a pianist in the fourth.
