Barenboim's FESTTAGE 2012 performances showcase roles as conductor and pianist

As part of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden's FESTTAGE 2012, Daniel Barenboim leads a series of performances in Berlin that showcase his musical life as both a conductor and a pianist. On April 5, Barenboim leads the Staatskapelle Berlin in a performance of Bruckner's Seventh Symphony and Elgar's Cello Concerto with Alisa Weilerstein at Berlin's Philharmonie. On April 6, Barenboim conducts the Filarmonica della Scala with works by De Falla and Ravel, composers which also featured on his January tour with the orchestra. The acclaimed mezzo-soprano Elina Garanča joins Barenboim and the Filarmonica on April 7 to sing works by Claude Debussy. The concert will also include music by Rossini and Verdi. Finally on April 8, Barenboim and bass René Pape present an evening of art songs by Schubert, Schumann, and Wolf at the Staatsoper im Schiller Theater.
