Barenboim receives Dresden Peace Prize
Yesterday, February 13th, Daniel Barenboim was awarded the Dresden Peace Prize, which is given in recognition of attempts at preventing or defusing conflicts between states or peoples. This year's prize was given for Barenboim's work with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and carries with it a monetary award of 25,000 Euros. Richard Weizsäcker, Germany's former president, delivered the laudatio.
